![]() Lives and works in Elcho Island, Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, Australia Skin Name: Galigali, Clan: Dätiwuy, Moiety: Dhuwa, Homelands: Rorruwuy Mavis was born at Matamata outstation on the mainland, and lives at Galiwin’ku Community on Elcho Island with her husband Mark Markurri Bukulatjpi and their five children. Hunting, fishing and listening to gospel music and watching TV and DVDs are on top of her list of hobbies. Mavis has exhibited across Australia including A matter of time, Tamworth 16th Fibre Textile Biennial and Australian tour in 2004, and the 18th Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Awards, at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory in 2001. Her solo exhibition of pandanus work, Gunga Djama Mirr, was shown at the Bandigan Art and Crafts Gallery, Sydney, in 2001. Her works have been acquired by Museum Victoria, Melbourne.
