Karin Findeis

Lives and works in Sydney, Australia.

Deeply interested in how we relate to objects, Karin makes work that explores notions of transience, perception, memory and the “baggage” that we often carry with us. She was born in Newcastle, Australia, to immigrant parents, and Karin's work is influenced by nomadism and cultural heritage. Her jewellery explores the space between the body and the object.

Karen employs a variety of techniques and materials ranging from precious metals to plastics, each incorporated with traditional metalworking skills.

Karin studied at College of Fine Arts, Sydney, and the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam. She has a Master of Visual Arts from Sydney College of the Arts. She has exhibited in Australia, Europe and Japan. After years of wandering, she has settled in Sydney and holds a lecturing position at Sydney College of the Arts, University of Sydney.
